The number that started this was 104, and the number that gets all the attention is whatever the scale says this morning. But the scale is a famously unreliable narrator.

Progress you can only see at the scale is progress you’ll quit before it shows.

What I track instead is boring and honest: the pace of the walk, whether the weights went up, how the bloodwork moved across a quarter. The unreported part is that the discipline stopped feeling like discipline — and that arrived months before the weight did.
